The James Beard Awards are among the nation’s most prestigious honors recognizing leaders in the culinary and food media industries.
Out of the eight 2023 Atlanta-area semifinalist chefs and restaurants announced earlier this year, only Koval made it to the final round of five contenders for best chef: Southeast.
Koval opened the Deer and the Dove in 2019 in the former Cakes and Ale space. His menu Southern rustic menu revolves around in-season vegetables and a wood-burning hearth. Duck, quail, venison, pheasant – you’ll find them all here. Each plate is beautifully presented and shines with melt-in-your-mouth flavor.
