Welcome kiddos, big and small!

Decatur is famously family friendly — for families of every kind.

We have parks aplenty, many with newly renovated and expanded playgrounds where exuberant rolling, running and jumping are encouraged. Our downtown square offers room to tumble, too, with synthetic turf that’s green all year ’round. As you ramble around the city, look (down) for miniature Secret Doors tucked into corners or hiding in plain sight; bring your Lego mini figures along to pose in your photos (we hear it’s a thing) (#decaturga).

Plus, most of our festivals are family friendly and free. Check them out here.

Local shops offer indoor fun, and fuel for the imagination. When it’s time for a treat, Decatur has plenty of sweet options!
