Holiday Gift Guide

Puzzling over what to get everyone on your list? Need some holiday inspiration? Frantic for last-minute gifts? Our local shops are bursting with standout selections and crowd-pleasing favorites with Decatur flair. Here’s our curated mini gift guide to get you started. Shop merry!

Spicewalla Spice Blends

For the foodies in your life, Spicewalla is the perfect pick. Created by Meherwan Irani, the chef behind Decatur’s Michelin-recommended Chai Pani, these spice blends are packed with flavor and heritage — many recipes passed down through generations. They’re compact enough to slip into a stocking, but full of vibrant, bold flavor. You can find them at, you guessed it, Chai Pani in downtown Decatur.

THE GOAT

Wild Oats and Billy Goats is a Decatur institution, known for the menagerie of metal critters that nearly always graces the storefront. These folk-art yard goats — and roosters, foxes, butterflies, armadillos, and more— are handmade from recycled materials. You will surely find a quirky piece of art to add to anyone’s collection.

Bikes + Cycling Accessories

Decatur is a city that loves to ride, so why not give the gift of cycling? Guild + Journeyman offers high-quality, restored bikes that are as stylish as they are functional. Or test-drive an electric bike before ordering a holiday surprise that wows.

PURRfect Pete the Cat

Decatur and Pete the Cat go way back. The cobalt blue kitty is the creation of James Dean, a local artist. This cool cat, beloved by kids and adults, started as a series of paintings before becoming a book. HomeGrown Decatur stocks a plethora of Pete-inspired gifts — plush toys, prints, socks, and games.

Local Growlers + Speciality Cans

Decatur was a pioneer in the craft beer scene long before it hit the mainstream, so it’s no surprise that our local breweries have some of the best brews around. Pick up a growler or specialty  6-pack from one of our local breweries: Three Taverns, Sceptre Brewing Arts, Inner Voice Brewing, or at export purveyor Ale Yeah.

Olive Branch Shower Steamers

For the person who loves self-care, Decatur’s Olive Branch is the go-to for glowing organic skincare and beauty, and their shower steamers are our absolute favorite product.

Books, Books and More Books

Decatur has the goods for your book club besties. We are home to THREE locally owned, independent bookstores  — Brave + Kind, Charis Books & More, and Little Shop of Stories. Each has plenty of recs for everyone’s TBR pile.

Ornaments

Each year, Decatur collaborates with a local artist to design a one-of-a-kind city ornament. This year’s edition, crafted by artist Nate Nardi of Decatur Glassblowing, is a true work of art. You can find these beautiful ornaments at several locations: T.E. Wilcox, Wild Oats and Billy Goats, Pastries A-Go-Go, and Odd Bird Gifts.

Want more tree trimmings? Odd Bird is bursting with snarky, sparkly, culinary, nostalgic, and sweet ornaments. Abominable snowmen and reindeer, polaroid cameras and disco balls, bananas, pickles, cheese-its, sushi, and so many more!

Vintage Treasures at T.E. Wilcox

T.E. Wilcox is a treasure trove of vintage (and vintage-inspired) home goods. Their collections—both large and small—change regularly, so there’s always something new to explore. You’ll find dazzling barware, swanky swizzle sticks, glowing vintage blow molds, and big statement pieces. And they stock beautiful Glasshouse candles.
